Is "pulling out" a type of birth control?

Technically, yes. Should you only rely on pull out method? No.

Yes it is and like most birth control is fallible and its effectiveness is highly dependent on the guy. Perfect use has high effectiveness. Its not recommended if you really don't want to get pregnant because human self control is not a scientifically reliable tool and perfect execution of the pull out method is impossible. Many people have gotten pregnant because of imperfect use. People want to think that their partner is reliable until they arent and they get pregnant. Even taking the pill is not always a good method of birth control because its percent  effectiveness is dependent on perfect use and people arent always using it perfectly. Just because people dont use it perfectly and its highly unreliable due to human error doesn't mean its not a form of birth control. Just means, you shouldnt rely on it but if you do, its your body. If youre using or want to use the pull out method, good job for doing at least something. I'd rather someone use the pull out method than doing nothing at all and expecting the same result. However, maybe you should consider another more reliable option. There are so many and many happy, pregnancy free people on them. If you've tried BC and its not working out well and youre getting frustrated, i understand that it can be hard. Ultimately, every person who is sexually active needs to accept that there are consequences to having sex. Abstinence is the only method that is 100% and the closest thing to it, with todays readily available methods, is sterilization, which is, of course, irreversible. Everything is ultimately your choice.

My doctor recently asked what I was using for birth control and I said pull out and she said that was like playing Russian roulette, and wrote in her notes that I was not using any form of birth control. To be fair, it's been 6 months of using it and no pregnancy but that's what she said. I'm getting an IUD today though.

Yes an If done correctly is as effective as comdoms or bc I may be wrong on my percentages but I think pullout method is 97% effective (if ur partner knows his body) birthcontrol is 98% effective and comdoms are also 97-98% effective
