can twins have twins?

Ok so my boyfriends sister is pregnant, her baby daddy is a fraternal twin. So we're wondering if she would have twins or not.

I've read it only matters if the mom is a twin or if it runs on her family which it doesn't.

But my cousin got pregnant with a guy who is also a twin and she had twins.

What do you think?

Fraternal twins are only hereditary on the mother's side. For example: If your mother was a fraternal twin she can pass down the hyper ovulation gene to her daughters only, not her sons. Identical twins are not hereditary and only happen by pure chance.

Multiple eggs are what make fraternal twins. Twins being on the dads side has no effect on if he will get a woman pregnant with twins. However, he can pass the "twin gene" for lack of a better term to his daughters so they may be more likely to have twins.

I am a twin and twins run on both sides of my family. My moms sister also has twin girls. My dads dad is a twin and his mother had three sets of twins. Along with lots of extended relatives. My doctor said my likelihood of having twins is high, that it skipping a generation is a myth.

It can be on either side. I *think* it is more common to happen with identical twins, but I could be wrong

It only depends on the male if he is identical is what my human sexuality teacher said basically there is a mutation in some of his sperm that can split an egg causing identical twins. A woman can have identical twins if the mutation is in her eggs for them to possibly split. Fraternal twins occur when 2 eggs are released

Ive heard that its more likely that people with twins in the family will have twins but it doesnt always happen. Having twins is still pretty rare
