I'm 17 and she knows I'm seeing someone, but I don't want to say I'm doing it for that. How should I bring it up with her? She's Mexican and usually traditional, any stories or ideas will really help this kid out!!

Depending on your state, minors can sometimes get birth control/counseling without parental consent. Planned parenthood is a good source of information. Remember birth control does not protect against STDs.

Tell her that your period is all over the place or cramps that's how I got on birth control but for me it was really bad with the cramps and my mom knew so when the doctor said birth control would help she was all in. I was 15 then and didn't get sexually active till I was 17
