Thinking of getting the implant in my arm. Any reviews? Is it effective?

I have had it twice. The first time my periods went away completely but I gained a fair amount of weight. This second time around I have had a normal period sycle every month but no weight gain. I would recommend it.

ALL. THE. BLOOD. I've had mine in for a little under a year now. For me, I bled for two weeks or so before I went back to my doctor and she gave me the birth control pill. That helped a lot and gave me normal periods that only lasted like 4 days a month. I had to stop that because I was getting visual migraines (no Bueno with the pill) and so the bleeding came back for like a month or so, but it's been gone for about 2 weeks which is nice. I don't know how it will affect my periods yet, but we'll see. The other thing is the mood swings! I'm so much moodier now and it's a lot easier to set me off which I really don't like :( but I'm figuring out how to manage that stuff better. BUT, this is just my body's reaction. Every woman's body will be different. Good luck!

Nexaplanon almost completely stopped my periods which was great. I will say in the beginning for the first 3 or so cycles my periods were very light but lasted 2 weeks. Then nothing for years. I will say I did experience a decrease in sex drive and my ability to get and stay wet. But these are symptoms associated with many kinds of hormonal BC.

I had it 2 1/2 times because it worked fairly well for me. I went to get it a 3rd time and it was really hard for them to get out the last one. My arm also felt weird when I got the 3rd one in so I got it removed. This is probably due to all the scar tissue in my arm. (For a first time insertion you won't have to worry about that).

I will say that when I got my most recent one removed my gyno told me she does not like suggesting it for BC because it is so hard to get out. If I go on BC again I think I'll get an IUD, it's what my doctor prefers.

I bled for an entire 4 months straight. I had no sex drive, I was losing hair, I was extremely depressed. Mine was awful 🙈

My only complaint is weight gain for the most part. But for me it does work. I've had it in almost 3 yrs

I gained 35lbs in my first 3 months of use and I'm now 28wks pregnant with my second child because mine failed. I've heard good and bad things in my case I wouldn't recommend it though

I had it for about 3 yrs after my first LO was born i liked it very effective and not noticeable at all... The only downside of it for me was my period it just made it so irregular ill sometimes get it twice a month or all month but hey every women is different so hopefully it would work better for you...!

I get super hungry, but then again I've always been the hungry type. It wasn't so painful for me. After about 2 weeks or less my arm was good and I dont even know it's there :)
