Am I the only one who can't figure out the stupid wraps?

Question

No matter how tightly I tie it or readjust my baby is ALWAYS crooked in the boba and screams bloody murder when she's in it. I'm going on a cross country flight with her today and I guess I'll be holding her the entire time or taking her in and out of the car seat. Yay. And yes I watched all of those videos too. Still didn't help and she still screamed

If there are any baby wearing groups near you I'd recommend trying to go to one. I found it so much more useful talking to an actual person than a video. Also, the one I went to had multiple options you could try. I find the wraps a bit overwhelming but really like our Mei Tai (though we need one with bigger straps so my husband can use it too.

When they get heavier, the stretchy wraps (like Boba and Moby) aren't the best. You can get a woven wrap instead..they don't stretch, so are more supportive and work better than stretchy wraps as baby gets heavier. Or you can try a different type of carrier. I love our ring sling, and am also planning on getting a Lillebaby.

This is why I got the baby K'tan instead of a wrap. Looks and feels like a wrap, but without all the wrapping. I love it.

I have a Moby Wrap, and my LO only likes it if he's facing outward. He enjoys it that way but can't stand it otherwise. It took me a while to get good at wrapping it too.

I just flew with my 14 week old. If you breastfeed, forget the wrap. Just carry her on and then feed her as your taking off. I had no issue just letting LO eat, fall off and sleep, and hop back on the boob as needed for comfort. She slept for 2 hours of a 2 hour and 20 minute flight! Definitely feed or give a pacifier on take off and land though. It helps with the ears popping.

Just as an aside, carrying a baby on a plane is much safer than baby wearing on a plane because if something were to happen such as the pilot put on the brakes or excessive turbulence, you can potentially crush your baby while wearing them. Babies have fared better just falling in these circumstances. It sounds bad for the baby to fall of course, but the baby has a better chance of surviving a fall than being crushed.

Also, you can check to see if you can bring the car seat on the plane to use of the spot next to you is empty. This is of course the safest option.

my little one hates to have her legs / feet in the wrong position, when she was a newborn i had to wrap her with her feet out but still hated being tummy to tummy like that in a lot of my carriers, she hates the soft structured boba i have right now, she's okay with the moby wrap (probably similar to the wrap you have? ) as long as i have her up nearly at my chin, i haven't even bothered using my beautiful woven wrap, BUT she looovveess being in the ring sling, totally worth trying it out

Maybe try a ring sling or an SSC like an ergo,tula, or lillebaby. Here is my hubby wearing our son in a lillebaby
