tampons feeling painful?

I've always used pads because I never really thought of using a tampon. 
Recently I tried using them because I thought it would save changing a pad every hour or so and worrying about the blood going on clothes etc.. 
but when I insert the tampon it hurts! 
I followed the instructions, read up online and watched videos. 
I can feel the tampon after inserting it, and when I stand up or move around or sit down it's painful and so so uncomfortable!

That was me my first time trying... I can definitely say that if you can feel it in there when you move around, its in there wrong. I didnt realize I was supposed to take all the little cardboard pieces out the first time I inserted one lol. Also, sometimes I position it wrong while inserting and I have to move it around a little until it feels right, then pull it out.

Try another brand. 
Certain brands are really painful for me too (tampax and equate). Feels like there is a razor blade in my pussy. Then other brands, I don't feel them in at all (Kotex)

Maybe try using a lighter absorbency. I know back when I first started using tampons, I could only wear lite or regular absorbency tampons for the first two cycles.
