Do you already read to your baby?

Tell me why or why not! Just curious

I'm getting my masters in linguistics however my language development professor who got her phd in language development has taught me how incredibly beneficial reading is cognitively for babies. As others have said it also helps build language and set a foundation. It's also a great means of interaction and relationship building.

My LO is 6 weeks, so I don't read books to him yet, however when he is alert we talk / sing / listen to music, etc. I have read him Shel Silverstein poems, which is entertaining. Once he is a little older I definitely plan on reading to him EVERY DAY. This is crucial for learning and cognitive development. Great post! 💚

Yes I read to him to help develop language. Sometimes I read parts of articles that I'm reading online too because it can be hard to carry on onesided conversations. I've heard narrating what you're doing is good in the early months as well.

It is great with language and development. I work at a library which makes it that much easier to get my hands on books. Plus I read to my 5yr old every day so why not include my lo in storytime

My baby's pediatrician says it helps development and language. I also have "conversations" with her and talk to her about what we will do over the summer like gardening or going to the zoo. It also helps me feel like I'm not silent all day long 😂

We've been reading to our LO since she was in my tummy and she loves it! She loves the educational videos too! And she's only 9 weeks You're never too young OR old to learn 🤷🏻‍♀️
