Inexpensive crib tent???

Question

Does anybody know of an affordable crib tent/crib net that could keep cats out of the crib? I've been looking everywhere and everything that looks durable enough to keep a 15lbs. cat out seems to cost at least $300.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated! I'd also really appreciate alternate methods of keeping cats out of a crib besides closing the doors to the nursery. The cats would scratch at the door all night and keep everybody awake.

Before my oldest was born, I left the mattress out of the crib and let my cat jump in. He wasn't able to stand up and his legs were dangling in between the wire squares. I let him sit until he started meowing for me. After that he never got back in. Never had any problems with him messing with the crib or trying to jump in with baby.  Also, just to clarify, he was not hurt at all doing this.

Until baby is born, line the crib with aluminum foil! Cats hate the sound and feeling of it and it will teach them not to jump in there.

You can try deterrants in addition to closing the door. They make sprays that will turn the cats away due to the smell. You can also put tin foil in front of or on the door (though it would look weird).  I'm not sure about the cost, but you can get motion triggered air canisters - they aren't strong enough to hurt, just annoy the cats.

I keep the mattress out of the crib (until my baby was born) and an empty box in the swing. Also I keep a spray bottle with just water in it and spray the cat whenever the cat gets into stuff i don't want her on in the baby's room. 
When my first was born my cat wanted nothing to do with me while I was holding her and never went near her. She's now 7 and they are slowly becoming friends. Lol. 
Now we're about to welcome our 2nd baby and for the most part we keep his door closed because he's not born yet but when it's open the cat hasn't jumped in the crib once.
