Well it's done...

After 5 kids all breaking through different kinds of contraceptives I had my tubes taken out yesterday. I've been sleeping off the knock out gas for the last 24 hours and waking up every few hours to eat, drink and pee. My bff has been awesome enough to take care of my younger 2 here while the older kids spend the weekend with their dad. Hubby took care of baby overnight even though he works early today.

I'm sad because I can't have anymore kids without spending a huge amount of money, but I'm relieved that after 3 weeks I won't have to worry about having another unplanned pregnancy. Having baby after baby has made life so hard on us financially and it's already a tight fit with all of us living in a 2 bedroom apartment. It's cheap rent though so we can get debt paid off, work our way up the corporate ladder and save up for a down payment on a house.

My doctor was worried I would regret getting a tubal ligation so young (I'll be 26 in June) but understands that enough is enough. When our kids are grown hubby and I want to become foster parents. Maybe adopt that way too.

Anyways, now that pregnancy is not an option anymore I can finally get my weight loss on track. Every time I started losing weight I would get pregnant again and have to stop due to fatigue and nausea. I've got 72 pounds to lose to get down to 200 pounds. Before having kids I was 165. But I'm gonna try and get down to 200 before I go for anything near my prepregnancy weight.

Life style changes begin as soon as I'm healed up and doctor says I can exercise again! Soda is cut down to 1 can or glass a day, junk food cut down to a single serving rather than a whole bag of chips in one sitting. More meals with veggies rather than just meat and potatoes or pasta and sauce. Yogurt with my breakfast. Lettuce or baby spinach on whole grain white bread and cheese and meat. Cut down on how much sugar I put in my tea and coffee. Cook more from scratch and only have boxed dinners on nights I have class.

Oh yea, did I mention I'm taking online classes for a bachelor's in accounting?

I have a whole 10 year plan laid out. Get an administrative job by the end of my second year in college, get a house by 2021, my husband graduating college by 2024. We agreed that once I graduate he will get his GED and go to college for whatever he wants to do.

All of this is much more doable without the constant worry of pregnancy!
