Terrible twos early?

Question

My son is 19 months old and has been having bad behavior problems. For the past two months we have been having huge problems with him throwing fits in public and it's so bad that I'm to the point of where I don't ever want to leave the house with him. I try to ignore it and not give him the attention he's wanting from it hoping it would stop but it doesn't. I get so many rude looks but I really just don't know what to do. I've also had problems with him hitting and throwing stuff at people, I've tried time out but it doesn't work for him. I'm just so lost I on what to do he can be the biggest sweetheart when he chooses to be but other times he's extremely mean.

Terrible twos can pretty much happen anytime. Just typically its between 1and 3. But honestly you shouldn't worry about what people think. The reason they know its unacceptable to act like that in public is because they were once asshole kids who did the same shit and their patents eventually taught them otherwise. Youre still in that process. Its okay. Just parent the way u see fit and everyone else can mind their own shit

There is a lot of brain development at play with concept of "terrible twos". You kind of have to remind yourself that they don't know anything about being human. We have known for so long it is natural, its all new to them. And it takes the human brain 25 years to mature, 19 months is not a long time for the brain to process life. And all along the way each developmental phase has its difficulties. Even different stages of adulthood have unique characteristics that make it a difficult age in its own respect.

Anyhow...behavior is complex and there are many different ways to approach problem solving tantrums, depending on the individual child. What can be said for all children is...empathy. Like, children aren't trying to give us a problem, they are having a problem. Toddlers have complex emotions and practically no developmental ability to regulate emotions. A tantrum to a two year old is akin to a panic attack for an adult. Its a horrible experience for them, they don't want to do it. But they are trying to communicate how they feel. There is a healthy balance where brains grow best, between authoritative and attachment parenting. Not authoritarian. Its like the difference between a boss and a leader, children need structure and rules but also appropriate independence and compromise. I feel there is a lot to learn from the book "Brain Rules for Baby" by John Medina. You may not be the reading type but this book is really a relatively quick and easy read, and it really helps one understand what is going on in the mind of an infant or toddler.

Not sure where he is language wise, but regardless, try talking to him about how he's feeling. Identify what he's feeling "it looks like you're mad about _____. I'm sorry you're mad. I would be mad about that too. We don't hit or throw things when we're mad. Etc". I have never done time outs, but I find doing 1-2-3 works really well for my daughter. It gives her a chance to think about what she's doing. Most times I don't even get past "I'm going to give you to the count of 3 to _____". She knows I mean business if it has gotten to the 1-2-3 (I don't use it too often). Good luck! Toddlers are tough!! It gets better when they can communicate more.

Dude my daughter is almost 10 months and she throws screaming fit when told no. Like she sounds like we are killing her or something.
