Mamaroo AND the Rock and Play? 🤔

Question

I had my baby shower this weekend and the hostesses all went in together and bought me a mamaroo. I'd heard great things but I didn't register for one because they were so expensive. I had the rock and play registered instead. Well, I ended up getting the auto rock and play from someone else, as well. So now I have both. My question is, is there really any reason to have both? Don't they kind of serve the same purpose? I'm trying to decide if I should return the rock and play or keep it. I don't feel right returning the mamaroo because they put a lot of thought into this gift and spent a lot to get me this thing, so that's not an option.

Also, if it matters, I know a lot of moms use the rock and play as a bassinet for the first few months, but I already have sleeping arrangements for the baby so I probably won't be using it for that purpose.

Any insight would be great!

***UPDATE: thank you all for your responses!! To answer one question, yes we do have a two story house, but our master is on the main floor so that's where we get ready. Nevertheless I have decided to follow everyone's recommendation and keep both. I think I like the idea of a more portable option than the mamaroo to lug around the house. And I never really thought about the fact that my baby might hate one or the other. Thanks, ladies!!

Keep both. The Rock'n Play Sleeper was a lifesaver for me. I have the basic model though. My daughter absolutely hated the Mamaroo, she screamed every time I put her in it. Definitely keep the package for both and if your child doesn't like one then go ahead and return them for some store credit. But I would wait and see what your child prefers first.

If you have a 2 story house it comes in handy, as the momaroo is more difficult to move. That stayed in our living room and we had the basic rock and play upstairs so he had somewhere to hang out while we were getting ready, showering, doing laundry up there, that kind of stuff

My kid hated every bouncer and swing. And before baby we all say we have sleeping arrangements but when baby comes and doesn't sleep where you want him to, suddenly you'll do anything. The rock and plsy, as you'll hear many say, is a life saver.

Do you have a multiple stories to your home? If so, having one upstairs and one downstairs would be great instead of lugging one around with a baby lol

I would keep both! I loved my swing for living room time and naps and whatnot, rock n play was great because it was portable. I could shower with my son in the room and it was easy to take to my moms house or a friends house.

Keep both! You never know what your baby will like, we have a swing and the rock N play and they serve different purposes for him. When I shower I bring my son in the bathroom in the rock N play where I wouldn't be able to do that nor want to with the swing! He liked the swing for some naps and amusement :)

I loved being able to see my rock n play in front of the shower. It's the only way I was comfortable getting a shower when I was home alone.

Keep both. I got a swing and a rock n play. I thought it was redundant, but they really do serve different purposes, and dune babies hate one or the other.
