Endometriosis and Gluten

Alicia
Hey ladies! Long post but if you have Endo please read!!
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis about 5 years ago through Lap but had debilitating periods since my first period. Passing out, excruciating cramps, heavy LONG periods, migraines and diarrhea. I was put on birth control, as a bandaid, at the age of 15. After my Lap surgery I tried to go without birth control and the pain returned, if not worse so back on birth control I went.
Fast forward a few years later, my now husband and I want to stop birth control and start TTC. I was nervous about the pain but decided to give it a go. I was told to consider removing gluten from my diet by my funk, thought it was just all the rage but figured it couldn't hurt. My first period sans gluten, no pain! I barely noticed I was on my period! And it was light and lasted 3-4 days! I continued GF for the next few months, still TTC without luck but pain fee periods.
I felt amazing but thought maybe it could just be a coincidence. So the other day friends were going to a restaurant known for its fried chicken so I decided to try it, knowing it was filled with gluten, just to see if it'd change my period (if I wasn't pregnant). Well, today my period started and OUCH! Flash back to middle school (cramps, almost passing out, diarrhea, migraine, the works). So this whole gluten thing isn't a joke!
If you're suffering from debilitating endometriosis pain please consider going gluten free! There are so many amazing GF options out there now.
Now he's to hoping we conceive!
