Trying to break the habit early...

My son is almost 11 weeks old. We've been letting him sleep in bed with us since he's been home. I want to start getting him to sleep in his bassinet by himself (but still in our room)

I know I should have started right away, but I haven't and I'm ready now. Any advise? How long does it usually take to "train" them that sleeping on there own is ok? What are the biggest challenges I should expect?
