Who has done the hajj?

Question

I'm reading a historical book on an explorer who snuck in to do the hajj and visited Medina in the 1800's. It got me thinking about what it would be like.

Have you any stories from when you went on the hajj or reasons for not going?

My DH and I performed Hajj Alhumdulillah in 2012, it was the most magnificent, blessed & spiritual experience ever. It's an experience we can never forget & everytime we think about it or talk about it we surely tear up. At the time I was 32 years old, I had my health & could walk & run around to perform all the rituals Alhumdulillah, but after I came back from Hajj my health started to deteriorate. I was so glad that I had my health when I went on Hajj & I could perform it best to my ability, and I was not a burden on my hubby. One never knows when ones health can take a turn for the worse in life, or how long we will live for, because of which I do recommend to the youth of today, please oh please do not delay your Hajj, perform it while you are healthy & young, perform it while you can run around & enjoy it to the fullest, it for sure is the most magnificent experience you will ever endure in your entire life Alhumdulillah 🕋❤️

We didn't have the possibility yet, but certainly would love to go. Many of my sisters in islam have gone and they all speak so full of love for the hajj, they all long for returning to hajj. I find it interesting how they not only all agree that the hajj itself is so beautiful, but also that  the people of Madinah are so helpful. They all say:"Makkah is for the hajj. In Madinah you can feel the spirit of the Ansar and the Muhajirin (the first and nearest followers of the Prophet)." They say they wouldn't want to live in Makkah as its people are still skilled traders like Quraysh used to be, but they all would love to live among the Madinese people.
Hearing how they all fell in love with the hajj -the Kaaba, the millions of brothers and sisters in faith, the absolute equality (the kind and the peasant wear the same cloth and pray side by side), the complete concentration on worship,… when I hear their stories I'd love to go as well. But as long as I have little children, I am not capable of doing this. I can't leave my children with someone else while I go on hajj. So, as I am in my last month of pregnancy now, it doesn't look as if we will be going on hajj very soon.
