Dock a tot?

Moms who have used a dockatot... what are the pros and cons? Having my second baby in July and exploring options for cosleepers. It just looks like a glorified dog bed to me so I'm having a hard time understanding why it's so dang expensive!

My son has used his since birth.  It was nice those early weeks because it gave him a more snug sleeping environment coupled with swaddling.  Eventually we stopped swaddling because he was always wiggling his way out and ended up waking himself up so he slept in it with a regular blanket tucked in.  He's now just shy of 3 months and we've transitioned him into his crib and he has done very well. Currently I use his dockatot if I want him in bed with me, tummy time or lounging around. We travel fairly regularly and it has been great having a familiar place for him to sleep.  We use it to bedshare in hotels or when we stay with family.  As for length of sleep - early on he was waking every 3 hours for feedings, then 4 hours for the first stretch and 5 hours for the next.

Other notes:  care and maintenance is easy.  The material used is really breathable.  We have a king size bed, I think it'd be a snug fit if it was a smaller bed.  I'd recommend getting an extra cover so that you can still use the dockatot if you need to wash one cover, I ended up buying a second cover for that very reason.

This is him last week when we visited his grandmother for an entire week.  He's 15 lbs and he looks snug in it, but I don't think he cares.

In hindsight would I purchase it if I could
do it all over? Yes.  Even though we don't use it as his primary nighttime sleeping area, we still get a lot of use out of it and itdefinitely provides peace of mind for me and familiarity for him when we're not sleeping at home.

Do I think it helped with sleep regularity? Honestly, I wouldn't be able to say since he slept in it from the start.

Are there comparable products out there for less money?  Probably, but I like this company's commitment to quality and materials.

I was curious about this too. I don't mind spending the money, but everyone I ask say it's stupid and to use a Boppy or if I was co-sleeping to use pillows or other methods. I know some moms use it had a changing area too, so when I mention that point I also get shot down. Haha. Granted, none of the moms I ask have one. But when I show them the website and videos they just shake their head. I'm leaning towards no, but I'll follow this thread for sure if anyone can say why it's so awesome. Cause I want one, dang It. Someone validate it's not silly for me.

Just got ours in bc at 6 months old my daughter who's been sleeping in her pNp alone since 4 weeks decided she only wanted to stay asleep if she was in our bed. What I LOVE about it is that it's like a giant pillow barrier protecting her from getting lost in the bed. The sides are breathable (I've stuck my face in it to test it out!) and what I plan on doing is once she gets used to sleeping in the dock to transfer her out of the bed (that's the ultimate goal) and move the dock so it's still a familiar sleep spot for her

I'm going to follow this because I'm looking to invest in one and wondering the same things! We're pregnant with #3, so I think it might be helpful as a travel bed among other things. My older two are 3 and 15 months. 😎

Doc a tot is expensive.. you can look for baby lounger at amazon.. they are comparatively cheap.. around 30-40 to much higher as you go up in price range..

Our dockatot arrived yesterday! My daughter is 9 days old and I NEVER planned on co-sleeping but the only way she'll sleep is on my or my husband's chest which just isn't safe for overnight sleeps. She loves to feel us close to her so we also swaddle her at bedtime to give her that close feeling. She has successfully napped in her dockatot today which is awesome. We have a pack n play with a bassinet but she'll only stay asleep for maybe 10 minutes in that. She also rolls into her side which terrifies me especially if she's swaddled. The dock is made to mimic the womb and I love how she can't roll or move in a way that's unsafe. She also feels like we're still holding her. We plan on using the dock to co-sleep until we feel comfortable moving it to her pack n play in our room and eventually her crib in her nursery. I know it's pricey and I haven't had it long enough to give a thorough review, but as of now I definitely don't regret it!

got  the dockatot grand when my daughter was 10 months. it's great when traveling as a cosleeper since you can purchase the travel bag and check it at the airport. she also loves to play and lounge in it. its a safe familiar environment for her no matter where we go or what we're up to. it's breathable material and very comfortable. will also use when daughter transitions to bed. she sleeps like a champ in this thing!

I don't have one but my friends who do love them. They sell out sometimes and the larger sizes are hard to come by
