How can I tell if my baby is dehydrated?

I think my two week old little girl has diarrhea and I don't want her to dehydrate. If she is dehydrated, what age can she drink water?

She cannot have water or pedialyte. You should be nursing on demand to compensate for dehydration. How many diapers is she wetting in an hour? Pediateicians have advice nurses for this reason, so call!

2 weeks is too young for water. Nurse or bottle feed her. Look up the cycle of poop. She may not actually have diarrhea. Newborns have weird poop patterns until they regulate. It you are truly concerned call her PCP.

Any concerns about your child before her first well visit should be taken care of with her doctor. I called the doctor over every little thing. They'll tell you what's normal and what's not, and when she should be seen by a doctor. Her formula or breast milk is all she needs right now. But seriously, if you're that concerned, call your doctor!

What does her poop look like? Is it yellow and watery with little seed looking things? Because that's normal. She's breastfed right? It's pretty liquidy up until they start solids. My son is breastfed and in the beginning he pooped literally every 2 hours.

Way to young to drink water. If she is breastfed the poop wil be a yellow color and really soft. If it is stringy and watery or hard like rabbit poop you should be concerned. If anything post a pic even though its gross and we can look. My sons was always yellow and really soft and he was breastfed.
