Midwife or Doctor ?

I'm going to have my first ultrasound tomorrow with the midwife and later afternoon I have my first app with the doctor I'm not sure 🤔 witch one to pick !

I'm doing a midwife this time. Had a doctor last time, and here are my pros and cons on doctor's vs midwives:

Pros for doctor:
-Can intervene in any way 
-Offers you any pain relief you want
-Emergency C-Section if necessary

Cons for doctor:
-Too quick to intervene/bully you into interventions
-More concerned about getting birth done in timely manner
-Limited birthing positions
-Against Eating during labor
-High C-Section rate
-Not as personal

Pros for Midwife:
-Only intervene if you ask
-Never put you on time restraints
-Trained exclusively in child birth
-Low C-Section rate
-Let you eat and move freely
-Many birthing options
-They're usually just plain nicer!
-Allow you to masked more decisions

Cons for Midwife:
-Can't do C-Sections
-Not many interventions/pain meds available (unless you're in a hospital)
-If a doctor has to get involved, you get charged by both

If you're unsure I would meet with both and see which one you feel better about. Or ask someone close to you if they have someone good in mind. I was referred to my doctor by a friend and I love her. She listens, takes her time with me and with two miscarriages in my past I feel comfortable knowing I have an MD taking care of me. Everyone's opinion is different and you need to find out what works best for you.

I prefer idwives as they tend to be low key and more understanding but it depends on each person regardless if title.

If you would like an unmedicated birth, I'm a big advocate for at least meeting some midwives and seeing what your options are.

My experience was with a midwife in the hospital. I was still bound by the hospitals rules but she did everything I wanted as allowed by the hospital. For example, perineal massage, no episiotomy, delayed cord clamping, etc. I plan on the same midwife delivering this baby in October!

With my first I had a midwife in a hospital. This was nice because you can have an epidural if you want but you are bound by the rules of the hospital, mine didn't allow me to move as much as I wanted and I was not allowed to eat (not that I wanted to). With my second I had a midwife at a birth center and it was definitely preferable. I stayed home for as long as I could, went to the birth center and delivered within 30 minutes. I was home in my own bed within 3 hours and got to wake up with my older son. I will hopefully be doing a birth center birth again this time.

I love my midwives. Now there are amazing doctors and amazing midwives, and then there are shitty doctors and shitty midwives who really should just bc doctors. My midwives are more personal and take a more natural approach with labor, pregnancy etc. The doctors were always in a rush and not very personable. A midwife can do what a doctor can do except a csection.
