What does labor feel like?!?

I haven't been having any tightening of my stomach so I'm assuming I'm not having contractions. I have been having sharp pains in my crotch and baby has been moving like crazy and pushing himself against my stomach. It's definitely painful... but there is nothing to time. I'm getting cramps in my pelvic area and lower back though too. I just don't want to ignore this if it's something!

I went in for an induction. They told me that I was already in labor. I laughed at the doctor. She then watched the monitor and said... 'Okay now you are having a contraction'. I said 'That is seriously a contraction? I thought it was my baby moving and pushing his butt out against my stomach.' She said 'Nope, you are having contractions'. Boy did I feel silly.

Don't know since I haven't been in labor yet but adding to what the other girl said, sometimes I can tell I'm having one with my belly tightening and other times I'm like "idk...I think his butt might just be sticking out or he moved weird" I think how you feel them depends on their position too. So you might be having some without knowing it! It's possible. I don't notice mine all the time.

Exactly what I'm going through. I've had NST's done though and I'm definitely having contractions lol just not feeling them!

Some people truly can't tell at first. When they progress they are intense. Take your breath away. Come in waves so not constant pain. Not always period cramp like can sometimes be purely lower back!! You just can't concentrate on anything else when it happens xxx

You will know when you are having contractions!!! They are strong! When I was in first stage of labor I said to my SO "so THIS is what contractions feel like!!!" The weeks leading up to labor I had the crampiness and sharp pain like someone was digging a knife into my pelvic bone but contractions are not even close to being the same feeling (at least to me). It's strong and your whole stomach feels like it's contracting (which is very strong too).
