Anyone ever had a spinal block instead of an epidural

Hey girls I'm pregnant with mono di twins in August, but the doctor said most likely were going to deliver in July. I was speaking to him about getting a spinal block instead of an epidural because with both of my children the epidural didn't do anything for me and the nurses thought I was lying or something because they told me I shouldn't be feeling anything because I had the max dose of medicine, but I felt everything!!!!! So my question is have any of you had a spinal block instead of an epidural or with an epidural for a vaginal delivery because I know they are used in c sections, but my plan is to vaginally deliver these babies.
