GIRL ON GIRL: WTF is a dental dam?
Good question, girl. Dental dams are pretty rarely mentioned outside of LGBT sexual health circles, which is a shame 'cause they're super handy (and mouthy)!
A dental dam is a thin square of latex that you can put over your boo's vagina or anus to make oral sex safer. It's a barrier method just like a condom, the idea being to keep your fluids from mixing and your skin from coming into that intimate contact. It's a good idea to use one if you don't know your girl's STI status, and a great idea if you're into mouth-on-butt action.
You can find dental dams in sex shops, LGBT health and community centers, women's centers, and reproductive health clinics. Or in a pinch, you can cut a condom lengthwise to make one of your own.
