GENDER IDENTITY: What is intersectionality?

Ev

Girl, here's the deal: not every feminist is white, middle class, cis-gendered, and able bodied.

Intersectionality recognizes and celebrates the fact that all our identities are constellational, or comprised of many parts.

A black, disabled trans* woman, for example, cannot separate the different forms of oppression that she experiences. Rather, she must be considered as a unified whole.

Think about the various components of your identity, and the forms of privilege that you have in your life. No two identities are alike, and intersectional feminism celebrates these differences.
