LBGT 101: What does "cis" mean?
Cis means that someone was assigned a sex at birth that identifies with their gender identity.
Someone who was born with a vagina and assigned female at birth, and also identifies as a woman is a cis woman.
A trans woman, by contrast, is someone who was assigned male at birth but identifies as female.
The main thing to know is that genitalia and gender don't always match up, and that's okay!
