While the inner labia is tasked with protecting the clitoris and the vaginal opening, they have a protector of their own - the outer labia.
These are the outer lips of the vulva and, though the shape, size, and color vary between women, they are all made of fatty tissue and usually have pubic hair covering them.
Not as sensitive as other parts of your vulva, but still important!
