Do you believe racism still exists?

Just wondering what your thoughts are. We are discussing in class.

Racism is the systemic structural oppression of groups of people aligning with race. In this country there are gross inequities along color lines. Yes racism still exists.

There is disproportionality in:
- reading levels at the third grade level
- incidences of asthma and other major health issues
- college acceptance, attendance, and matriculation
- prison population
- drug arrests 
- income distribution
- pereceived use of entitlements

The list goes on and on.

To differentiate, prejudice seems to be what many are talking about. Prejudice is simplistically racism at an individual level. Racism is systemic and overarching. Bigots are those that perpetuate prejudice against a group.

Well,  I agree. Racism exists and I see it more now than ever. My So is Caucasian and the racism I've experienced since we've been together is disgusting.  I've always experienced it but it coming from all angles now, even people who are not Black or Caucasian.....

I think there will always be racism. It's just how some people are. There will always be some group of people that others don't like.

Yes and it will continue as long as people continue to divide ourselves by race and skin color.
