Need advise on how to help a friend

My friends husband came to Canada a few years ago. Almost a year ago he got the papers to bring my friend and their children into the country. She does not want to go back as she would be risking her children as she is catholic and her home country is raping and murdering the woman and children. (Not going to name the group killing as that's not the issue so much). But her option of going home is unavailable as she wants her kids safe.

But her husband wants to have a second wife (not legally) he has got the other woman pregnant and wants her to move in with them. She said she wasn't okay with that and she was beaten quite badly. She left the house and ran to the church, they said the only options she has is to either go back to her home country or let the girlfriend move in. She went home. She has quit going to church because the other woman is going along with my friend's husband.

She doesn't want her kids in a home where she is beaten in front of them. What can she do? I'm young and inexperienced in this. She's 2 months pregnant if that makes a difference with options available.. I can't tell her what to do but I want her to know her options if he gets more violent.
