if I feed on one breast should I pump the other?

Question

I just pumped for the first time. I usually feed one breast each feeding and alternate each time. Now should I be pumping the same breast I just fed on or the opposite?

The nurses told me to feed 10-15 min on each side but I don't see why ya couldn't pump if you think baby is full with one side

It depends. If your baby is very young (a couple weeks old), you could create an over supply doing this. If you have the freezer space, wouldn't be a terrible thing if you want to build a stash. I wouldn't recommend doing it every time, but if you are uncomfortable you can. That's what I did, as my son usually ate both sides, but when he didn't I was horribly uncomfortable. I also have a strong letdown, so he couldn't handle that much milk coming out at the start. I've built up a nice freezer stash, starting at about 8 weeks. He's 5 months now, and I never have any supply issues. But some people don't want to manage the extra milk, so beware that you could create a permanent increase this way.
