Should I get induced at 41 weeks?

I've had a normal healthy pregnancy up until now but baby is running late. Tuesday will be 41 weeks exactly so I've scheduled to get induced. I'm wondering if I should cancel it? I don't want to rush things if I don't have to but I don't want my baby to have complications from being over due either... any advice or recommendations would be nice. Thanks!

This is something only you can decide. There are risks to being induced, especially if you're hoping for a natural labor (increased risk of other interventions up to and including needing a C-section). There are also risks to going over 41 weeks (meconium in lungs, blood sugar balance can be off, large birth weight, aging placenta).
So it's up to you what you think is best for you and your baby. If you want an induction and think that's best, then go for it! If you wanna give baby another week and see what happens, that's ok too :) 
neither is wrong, and neither makes you a bad mommy.

I refused to be induced before 42 weeks. I'm going in on exactly 42. Due dates are guestimates, not exact. That's why they say anywhere from 38-42 weeks is normal delivery. 
To put my mind at ease bevause I worried about my baby being in distress like you, I go on for non stress tests every 2-3 days and just watch her movements closer. 
It's nice to know what day she will come if she doesn't come before but I personally didn't want to induce because of the risks (I want a natural waterbirth) and if there wasn't a reason to, what's waiting another week?
