Amelia Rae arrived 3/23/17 Birth story
Amelia decided it was time to arrive a day before her induction date. I was 40 + 2 weeks and I had my 40 week appointment the morning labor started. I had my bloody show and was contracting 6-8 minutes apart at my doc apt at 8 am. The doc said I was at 3.5 cm and in early labor which could last days. I went on my way to a hair appointment and kept noticing the contractions getting stronger and more frequent. After my appointment around 3:00 pm at home, I was having painful contractions 3-4 minutes apart. I tried taking a bath to ease the pain and nothing helped. I told my husband that we better go to the hospital. We arrived and I was found to be dilated to 4.5. They admitted me and I begged for the epidural after the contractions intensified. Around 6:00 pm they broke my water. I was dilated to 9 cm by 9:00 pm and the nurses said I would have the baby within the hour. But that did not happen. I was stuck at 9 until 7 am the next morning even after trying every position under the sun to further dialate. By 8 am I was fully there and ready to push. Pushed for a hour and a half before they called the doctor. I was exhausted and the doc said after his exam we will need to use foreceps or c section. We opted for the foreceps which the doctor used for three pushes and with two pushes on my own she was out. She ended up weighing 9 lbs 5 ounces which might be why I was stuck at 9 cm because she was stuck in the birth canal. She does have a squished nose that the doctors think will straighten out with time but she is still my perfect little angel. 💕🎀🌸
I have a third degree tear and several painful hemorrhoids from labor. Being a FTM I had no idea what to expect going into labor. For those yet to deliver, your body can do amazing things even when you think you have no energy left. Trust your doctor and in the end, all the pain is worth it the second they put that baby in your arms. ❤️
