How does everyone feel about vbac?

All I know is what we learned in nursing school: MDs in the US often shy away from it because of the risk of uterine rupture. What they don't say is uterine rupture is VERY RARELY what we picture as catastrophic uterine rupture. Less that .06% of all uterine ruptures are the catastrophic, life threatening, fertility ruining kind. The rupture that can happen (although doesn't always- the risk just gets higher with every c-section) is usually a small tear that isn't found until the next pregnancy DURING a section or later on in life if the woman needs something like a hysterectomy or other reproductive or abdominal surgery. The first section is usually not considered to increase your true risk of rupture at all- it's the second, third, fourth c-section that puts you at high risk but it's important to understand that this risk isn't just during labor- you risk rupture (meaning a tear, not always catastrophe) anytime the uterus stretches after scar tissue has formed

Its a good plan!! Look for a doctor willing. Someone who can give you a good statistic of vbac's from their practice. I know a few doctors that say they are fine with you having a vbac but once you are at the hospital they give you 1 hr to dilate to 10cm and 1 hr to push or they will do a cesarean. So make sure that your doctor is genuine about allowing it.

I had a vbac after a twin c-section... And it was only like a year and a half later but it was very important to me and my husband that we had our youngest child naturally. The actual vbac part was only just nerve racking because if anything didn't seem normal they were going to take me into the or but everything went fine. The hardest part was finding a dr who was willing to do it...

I've had 3 kids after a vbac it just depends on bow the doc had to do the incision on your uterus as to whether or not you can so it
