Constipated beyond belief?!

Question

Is anyone else constipated nearly all the time? I'm wondering if it's my pregnancy or my IBS because I had IBS before I got pregnant however it seems worse now. I'm just wondering if it's just me?

I've added chia to my diet and have been suuuper regular lol I also make it a point to drink AT LEAST 64oz of water a day.. That's like half a gallon. May sound like a lot but I bought two 32oz bottles and one is my goal to finish by the afternoon and the other by the time I go to bed. It's been working so far.. Good luck 😘

I had horrific constipation in my first trimester. I lost 10 pounds as I stifled to eat or finish a meal. It also caused repeated urine infections as I was in unable to properly empty my bladder. I took fybogel daily and made sure I kept up a high fibre diet and that helped. It eased on its own at around 12 weeks but at 24 weeks its back again I'm just doing the same. I had a really awful urine infection last weekend and was so poorly I dot want to risk it again. My best friend also had constipation during her pregnancy she was given something by her doctor which helped loads. Though I am sorry I can't remember what it's called. It's worth seeking help from your doc if you need it :)

Talk to your gastroenterologist. Typically I tell all constipation folks to take a probiotic but since you have IBS my suggestion is you talk to your specialist about it.

I nearly got impacted from ongoing constipation a couple of weeks ago and my midwife gave me this regimen that I do every day now: green smoothie every morning with flax and chia seeds, psyllium fiber (or Metamucil, and drink 2 cups of water afterward) twice a day, stool softener twice a day (but ease off when you can, your body can become addicted), prenatal at night (can cause constipation), probiotic pill, yogurt, fruits & veggies (high fiber + healthy fats), and 10 cups of water per day. All this is soooo much, but it works. The water is the hardest part for me, but I have a huge Tervis cup with a straw and that really helps!

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and have suffered with this from the start. Feels like I'm having a baby every time I go for a poo 😓 I know I need to drink more water to help me out but I just can't drink that much
