woah! breastfeeding paranoia to the extreme!!!😡

Martha • Mom of two incredible little boys!
The weirdest most agrivating thing happened to my son and I today. I don't breastfeed and it a touchy subject because after several lactation consutlatnds we still weren't able to get my son to latch. It still bothers me because my whole body craves that experience and bonding time. But different story.
I was at a restaurant today with a friend and my 5 1/2 month old son. My son started to get tired cranky. He's easily distracted by lights and people so I held him in my arms, gave him a chew toy and placed a breastfeeding scarf over him (a gift from my baby shower I've never been able to truly use). I did this so my son could fall asleep in the dark and in my arms without being distracted by moving people. After about 15 minutes a young man (I'd guess in his early 20s) came over to me and told me that I shouldn't feed my child like that in public. It wasn't sanitary and it causes a scene. WHAT???? Literally WHAT?? I looked at him and said, "you realize my son is sleeping and my shirt is completely down." He said it "it looks like you're breastfeeding." Holy-cow! You breastfeeding moms, you rock! The paranoia of some people is friggin horrible. The vey idea freak some people out. This is seriously wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I get it if this man came up to me if my boob was hanging out. But just the very thought of me feeding my child made that man panic enough to confront me? I had to share. This is beyond ridiculous. Sanitary? Ugg! I'm steamed!Â
