Opinion on long distance relationships?

Communication and trust are the biggest things.

Me and my DH were long distance for two years and all of that time was spent in communication it can be done. Just know it's hard and takes both of you!!

I was in CO he was in CA. We got married in 2008! We've known each other for over 11 years now... Don't let anyone tell you LDR don't work out! Communication and commitment are the keys to making it work!

I was long distance with my SO for 4.5 years (I was in the US, he was in the UK). It was hard work, but we took it one day at a time. Long distance is a choice you make every day, and ending it is an option that's always on the table. We talked a lot, travelled a lot and it worked out. I don't think it's something you're "good at" or "bad at" either. You try your best and it works or it doesn't, just like any relationship. Good luck! :)

Funny how people define long distance relationship. For me 45 minutes away is not a long distance relationship, that's a normal commute :P for me long distance is other side of the country or a completely other country :P

It takes communication and trust and trying to come visit as much as possible. I'm going to go see my fiancé for three weeks soon. Haven't seen him since January.

Trust is the key. You have to make time for one another. I've done long distance relationships a few times.

My boyfriend and I did cross-country for 9 months while he started grad school and I finished college and it worked out. We had only been together for 8 months before that, but we stayed together and eventually got married (together 11 years, married 5 1/2). That said, I think it helps to have an end game. At least that was what got me through. I can't imagine doing it not knowing that I would join him after a certain amount of time.

Depends.. Are they in the same state or a different one? How often could you see them? It really just depends on the situations. My boyfriend lives 45 minutes away from me and I don't have a car, but somehow he still manages to see me 5/7 days of the week. So I'm pro distant relationships depending on the situation.
