four days late

So I took a pregnancy test 3 days before my period was due to start, but I'm now 4 days late and I'm worried. A friend told me to go get another test but I really can't afford to buy another one right now and I feel like if I do than I'll end up getting my period the next day or something... I'm usually pretty regular Or at least within a day...
