Can we talk about why people treat cashiers like shit?!

Ok, I know obviously not everyone does. But I am one for a museum in the gift shop. I have had SO many rude people come through the last few days. I am sorry, but I cannot control ANYTHING that my work place does. I can't control prices of anything. I can't control what time we open and close. I am not a specialist on everything we have, so I am sorry that I cannot answer all of your questions off of the top of my head. I did not study any of this in college so I know just as much about dinosaurs as you do (because I work in a museum). Instead of being rude to me when I can't answer, let my call my boss and find out the answer for you if possible. I am sorry, but I just think people need to understand that cashiers are just like everyone else and its not the easiest job, and obviously it's not the most difficult either, but still. All I can do is be nice to you and do all I can for you and that's it. I can only do as much as I know how to. And it's not even just cashiers, it's literally how we all treat each other. I just wish people could be more kind to each other. ❤

I worked at customer service at a walmart for 3years 😂😂😂 yall can imagine everything i saw there. People even threw things like bean cans on me 🙄 called me nigger and insult my natural hair 🙄 it was funny 😂 everyday was like a movie man. I slaped the lady who threw a can on me . I was a cashier at McDonald's. Someone came in and yelled at me for soggy fries and bad food. Literally yelled at me 😩 I was 16 and I started yelling back like I don't even touch the food i don't know how to make fries I just take orders! I lasted like 3 weeks lol customer service sucks sometimes

Welcome to customer service. I worked in a Family Dollar before I became a sales rep in Verizon. I still get crap from unpleasant customers. Just because you are going through something doesnt mean everyone has to pay for it. Doesnt hurt to be nice.

I worked at target like 99% of the people were decent but omgsh... if I have to hear one more time "It's not scanning I guess it's free" I will cut you! My husband said that joke to a poor cashier once I just about lost it. I went off on him the cute little girl was so scared but was trying to contain her laughter.

I lasted 8 months at a supermarket. I got yelled at constantly, I just said "I'm sorry I have no control over our shipments, or when they arrive. Would you like to speak to my manager?" That normally shut them up real quick.

After I got blamed for someone getting food poisoning from the chicken, when I wasn't even working nor did I have anything to do with the chickens I said "I'm done."

I had a lady walk up to my cashier wave her hand 👋🏾 really close to her face screaming "hey hey where's your manager"

Sometimes our warehouse sends us things that have been recalled we don't know until we scan the items at the register. So this lady wanted a jacket that was recalled by the manufacturer. I nicely tell her "I'm sorry ma'am I can't sell this to you. It's been recalled we have to go and gather these and send them back. Sorry for the inconvenience" She goes "IDC ITS ON THE FLOOR AND YOU HAVE TO SELL IT ME" after about five minutes explaining why I can't she goes "ugh is there anyone else o can talk too" after me and another manager tell her the same thing she goes "I'm a loyal customer and I'm going to tell everyone I know not to shop here ever again because this fucking ridiculous"

Like I get people have bad days and shit happens but there's no need to utter dicks.

I worked Wendy's and this lady tried to fight me because we were out of chili (the next batch had 15 minutes left on it) and we were out of potatoes (like really none in the store) she said to me how do y'all have fries and not baked potatoes, I explained that are fries come frozen etc... she was in drive thru so we were talking over the headset so she drives around and is literally screaming at me so my manager instructed me to move away from the window she sat there for 5 minutes then she got out her car left it at the window (by this time the orders were being backed up extremely) she came inside yelling and screaming talking about she was gonna beat me down etc my manager sent me to back of the store so as I am walking back she yells bitch I will come back there... I turned and said to her if you bring your ass back her trust me I will beat the shit out of your ass so she started to walk behind the counter my coworker yelled at her if you try to touch her you will have a big problem with me personally... I guess someone called the cops they walkin and she is literally screaming about potatoes and chili.. the chili is ready now my manager tells the cops we just want her to leave my mangers give her a chili she takes it says thank you and just leaves.... 😕😕 after all that I refused to work drive thru for 2 months

I worked at Jc penny during the holidays when I was in high school. Something about Christmas brings out the evil in people. The worst was working returns. This woman screamed at me for 10 minutes over a return. The dress she wanted to return didn't even come from Jc penny, it was from Walmart. She wasn't even the worst. There was a couple that tried to return over 500$ worth of stolen clothes. People would constantly try to bully me into giving them what they wanted.
