boyfriend thought pain was orgasm

I had sex for the first time with a new boyfriend, and it was great, except he's huge. There was a time I was in so much pain I screamed and he thought I came. I really want to stay with him, but I'm scared every time we have sex I'll be in pain again. Advice/thoughts?
