Is it normal for a newborn to sleep basically all day?

I'm a FTM so bear with me here but I know newborns sleep but everyone told me I won't get sleep the first few weeks but is it normal for my week old to basically be asleep all day except to eat. She barely wakes up when she has a dirty diaper. Just want to make sure it's normal...

Perfectly normal. Enjoy it while it lasts! 
My daughter is four weeks now. The first week or two all she did was sleep and feed. By now she spends several hours a day wide awake, and we've started really appreciating her naps.

I'm a FTM and my little one is 5 weeks old now.  The first 2-3 weeks were actually a breeze because she would nurse for 15-
30 min and then sleeps 3 hours straight. I would have to wake her up each time.

It's completely normal. Now at 4-5 weeks she sleeps at night but wakes up on her own twice to nurse and the daytime shes more awake with some naps here and there.

Wake your baby up to eat and change the diaper don't let them sleep past 3 hours.

As long as they aren't sleeping more than 5 hours at a time, it's fine.
Mine will be a month old tomorrow. She still pretty much eats and sleeps every two to three hours. Some days she's more awake and alert, depends on how she sleeps at night.

My daughter was really active according to doctors. She would stay up between 45min to an hour every other feeding sometimes a couple feedings back to back. Now she's 4wks and stays up after almost every feeding for about 2hrs.
