having a lotus birth ?

what is your guys' opinions on having a lotus birth ? did you have one what was your experience ? why or why wouldnt you have one ?

Personally I couldn't go with one.  Too messy (I'm very anti blood. I pass out..literally pass out. Have passed out every time they had to draw blood from me during pregnancy)
I loved my hospital bed birth. Saw no blood, felt no pain, had a second degree tear.  Felt no sitches. Saw no placenta. Baby was cleaned and placed on me. In a sterile and clean environment. Then off to my clean,  all pretty recovery room.

I read about it ever since hearing about it here and apparently it can cause the baby to have a weak circulatory system or something. I wouldnt want that for my child. My family are preemies anyway and i was a sick baby. I want my kid to be healthy as possible

To each their own, but I delivered at 41 week, my placenta was starting to become infected. I doubt it would benefit the baby if it were infected. And how would u know?

I'm definitely considering it when I have children. I've already decided on having a home/water birth, as well. :)

I seen a long post about this on fb the other day. I think every person / couple can do what they want. But for me personally I don't think that is something I would ever do. It seems almost inhuman to leave the umbilical cord attached to the placenta until it falls off on its own. You wouldn't only have to take care of your new born baby, but also the placenta as well. You know it's going to smell after awhile so you have to keep it smothered in natural scents like rosemary. I think it would be to much of a hassle. Everywhere my baby goes I would have to drag around the placenta as well. That's just not for me. I understand people do it for the nutritional values and the long term effects that can help the development of a child. Honestly it's just something I don't think I could ever do. More power to the people that can though.
