had my appointment today.....

okay so I'm 36+5 and I had my cervical exam today. I'm about 2cm dialated and 80% effaced. is this normal this early?! what does this mean for me? how much time do I have? I know it's different for everyone but with me being a first time mom I'm just worried I'll miss the signs of labor!
