Any Mamas Still Nursing to Sleep?

Question

When and how did you stop nursing to sleep? I'm starting to feel upset about it but I know it needs to be done. I've read a about nursing 20-30 minutes before they go to bed but then when it's time to put my babe down I just know he's going to look at me and think "what the hek ma"...just wondering if there are any trips to help it be a smooth transition

I think it's up to you. In my opinion there's nothing wrong with nursing to sleep unless you have a problem with it. Does baby nurse to sleep and unlatch and stay asleep? Or does baby want to spend their whole nap suckling and wake up if you pull away? I'm starting to learn that there's no right or wrong way to do things as long as it works for you and your baby

I was putting my LO down to nap without a feed and just feeding her to sleep at night. But in the last week the sleep regression hit overdrive and she outgrew the legs out swaddle we used so she could nap in her swing. Now I'm trying to get her used to the Merlin sleep suit in the swing but naps are only 40 minutes as opposed to her normal 2 hours. So I've been nursing her down to try to give her better rest. It's the hot mess baby express over here.

I do. For naps as well. Breastfeeding instantly relaxes her and gets her to sleep right away, I'm not going to stop using a tool that hasn't failed me, lol. With my first, I let him decide when he was ready to give it up, I am going to do the same with her. Maybe try incorporating other soothing techniques in with the nursing, to see what your little one responds to, as a way for them to slowly develop new associations with sleepy time! Odds will be more in your favor if your baby is more of a self soother

I nurse to sleep still. Sometimes he will fall asleep on his own for naps though. I have no plans on stopping this unless he does it himself.

I nurse to sleep for bed and naps, but my LO will sometimes fall asleep in the swing, stroller or car seat. He's been fighting naps since 6 weeks old and unless I lay down with him, he usually only sleeps for 5-40 minutes. It can take me anywhere from 20-90 minutes to get him to even take a nap, even with an unwind routine. He goes down like a champ at night, though, and usually only wakes 2 or 3 times. A lot of the time, he will wake up when I'm laying him down and fall back asleep if I rock him.

I am still nursing to sleep, and feeling the same way. I don't want to give it up, but feel like he should start self soothing (especially since he is up so much at night still). I just started to do music and a book before nursing in bed at night to try to slowly adjust to him not completely sleeping before putting him down. We'll see how it goes!
