Will larger size clothes work the same as maternity clothes? Such as dresses etc.

I feel as though people jack up the prices to put the word maternity in front of it.

Personally, I like the maternity clothes because they look better on me compared to clothes in larger sizes.

I'm small to begin with and all belly pregnant and if I put on large clothes it looks ridiculous on my arms, legs and such, so I stuck with mostly maternity wear. A couple of my regular dresses worked though.

For shirts probably, not really for pants. Maternity shirts are cut in a way that's meant to be flattering on the way a pregnant woman's stomach is. Larger shirts will fit for sure, they just might not look as good because they're not made for the round belly shape. Maternity pants have the elastic that's meant to grow with your stomach (plus they are heaven, I love my maternity pants 😍).

I did find that maxi dresses in a larger size worked well as maternity clothes. I just feel like it depends. I got my maternity clothes at Ross

For me I had to go the maternity route. Tops were NEVER long enough and regular pants were so uncomfortable. Even dresses looked weird as they were way short on front. Going up a size just created fit issues everywhere else too in addition to shirts never being long enough. I think it just depends on your body. I have a long torso as is so being pregnant was not helping that at all.

Through out my pregnancy I've only brought 2 maternity jeans and 2 maternity tops (which I only wore couple times). Other than that I've been wearing leggings and loose tops through out the whole 9 months. I personally did not need maternity brand of cloths.

I was able to get by this pregnancy with just purchasing a few maternity jeans - I found some at Ross & H&M for just $15/pair.  I also bought 2 maternity tank tops to layer under regular shirts. I ended up using what I already owned for tops & dresses. I recently bought a few tops for $8 or less since the season is changing, but tried to stick with regular clothes. It can be done - you just need to try on different types of styles depending on how your chest & belly grows. Good luck!

I had recently lost a bunch of weight before getting pregnant, so as my belly grows, I've been wearing my "fat jeans."  I ended up buying maternity pants though, bc although the bigger size works well enough, it will fit ok for one part of my body (belly), but not others (legs).

Shirts are hit and miss. Depends on the style.
