Baby over 8lbs?!

So I had my 36 week check up today and the doctor said she wants to request an ultrasound because the baby is measuring large. She said I can definitely expect a baby over 8lbs. I'm scared!! My other 3 children were all under 8lbs.

My first daughter was 8 pounds 9 ounces and I only needed two stitches. I was told numerous times she was measuring small and then I ended up with an 8 pound baby... I don't think the weight estimates are accurate with ultrasounds.. lol my second daughter is measuring 2 weeks ahead so who knows how big she'll be.

Oh heavens, at first I read this as your baby was measuring at 8lbs already at 36 weeks!! Lol. The average baby weighs 7.5lbs at birth so 8lbs isn't actually that outrageous.   I was my mother's smallest baby out of 5 births and I was 7lbs 15oz - so I was RIGHT under 8lbs... as the smallest.   She recovered well from every birth. Some were epidurals, some natural.  Women talk a lot about how big or small the baby is and it becomes like bragging rights if you endured a big baby because that must mean it was a painful birth, but a little baby - well sister, you caught a break. It must not have hurt as bad. As a FTM I realize I may be being naive about this... but in my mind, you're going to be in pain regardless. Are people really saying that small babies hurt that much less? I kinda think when you're in that much pain you're not really noticing much of a difference between a pound or two.

I had a 9lb baby (and only weighed 120lbs). It's really not that terrible, the only complaint I had was not being able to dress him in the cute newborn clothes. My doctor had estimated him to be 6lbs, so we stocked up on a few more packs of newborn diapers and outfits that we never got to use. But, their estimations could always be off!

My baby was 9.4 and I didn't tear at all. I also pushed for 2 hours and my midwife massaged the entire time, so that definitely helped I think.

Did she say the baby was measuring large from the fundal height? I am supposedly measuring 4 weeks ahead (35 weeks, but 39 weeks when they measure the bump). They are doing an ultrasound on the 13th, and I'm a little nervous about how it will end up. He was measuring 4 pounds 9 ounces at 32 weeks.

My biggest thus far was 8lbs 10ozs and he was my second. Nothing to fear or be scared of. My two others were 7lbs 11ozs. This one is measuring big according to us but I'm not putting too much on it seeing as how they told me my last one was 8 lbs roughly and we was 7lbs 11.

I wasn't supposed to be getting any more sonos and my doctor just scheduled me for one on Thursday. I'm not sure why but I suspect it's growth related. I'm very small 4'11" and I can tell I'm carrying around a big baby so I wonder how big he's really measuring. My first was supposed to be a 8-9 lb baby but I ended up in labor at 36 weeks 5 days.

My first was 9lbs... vaginal. I only had a second degree tear. Idk how big this one will be but I assume right around the same... not worried. You can do it!

I'm in the same boat! I had an ultrasound 31+6 and he already weighed 5lbs 11oz! I have another ultrasound tomorrow (33 weeks)  to check his fluid because he has consistently measured big and they have him estimated at 9 or 10 lbs 😳 Are you having a C-Section or Vaginal?
