My dr. Told me I'm not getting another US until I'm 20 weeks which will be my gender scan, if I asked if they could do it a week early would they allow that or does it not work that way? Lol

Hi :) I'm an ultrasound technologist in Maternal Fetal Medicine and we schedule our anatomy scans between 19 and 20 weeks, so you should be able to push it up a week as long as there's an opening.

I know there is a pretty defined time in which they prefer to do the anatomy scan, but 1 week early might fall within that timeframe -- I would ask!

It might be an issue with your insurance. I only got the 20 week scan with my first. I think I might go to a school and have the students do a 3D one this time so I can see my baby more than once.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. You get maybe 2 or 3 ultrasounds tops if you're lucky. 20 weeks is the anatomy scan and gender scan. Unless you pay for private scans

You can get an elective ultrasound from a different place and it could be a 3D or 4d ultrasound

Depends on your doctor. When I was pregnant with my first I asked for gender scan at 16 weeks and she said yes. Fast forward 5 years and this doctor said I had to wait until I was  20 weeks. Same practice, different doctor. Actually she's a physician's assistant. 5 doctors and 2 PA's that I saw throughout my pregnancy.  Doesn't hurt to ask!

They should.  My Dr asked me what date I wanted mine , withing a certain time that is.
