Delayed cord clamping?

Hey mama's,
Can someone help me with some info about delayed cord clamping or waiting to clamp/cut cord after placenta is delivered? With my first baby I was young and wasn't aware of any of this, now I am really curious and want all the info I can gather(due next month). Will you share your thoughts and experiences, please? 😊

World Health Organization recommends delaying clamping for 2-3 minutes. A lot of other sources suggest longer.

Delayed coed clamping is basically waiting until the umbilical cord is done pulsing or has turned white before clamping and cutting it. Its supposed to be healthier for the baby as far as returning blood to the babys body along with the nutrients in it. As far as I know, there are no risks if you choose not to delay cord clamping. It only takes a couple minutes though for the cord to basically "empty itself out " so its very popular. I waited until the cord was done pulsing with my first born and I plan to do the same with my second in May just because its a healthy option that takes no time so why not?

My OB does not want to do it unless Baby is early. He said there is a high risk of jaundice associated with it, especially if you wait for white. I even talked to some L&D nurses and they said the thing. There's a lot of conflicting information out there and I was pretty interested in it. :(

My first was delayed (as hospital protocol) I don't remember my second (I was on epidural) my third was not delayed, though our wish was to wait.  My husband cut the cord and blood was squirting everywhere.
We will be more vocal this time.

We wait til white. And it's also being implemented as normal procedure in my hospital. The benefits for baby are very good! Idk where other people heard it's not good, but from research I've done and the medical professionals I've spoke with, even my own OB, believe it's nothing but beneficial for baby.

We did a ton of research and asked multiple doctors and decided to delay for 30sec to minute, not any longer.

I was going to say the same thing as Sharon. It doesn't do harm to try. Make sure the dr and the nurses know to wait before hand!

I also won't be bathing this baby after birth. The vernix is the best kind of moisturizer. My first had flakey skin and my second didn't due to not bathing the second time.
