kinda vent but I'm you can relate

I love my bf but he is so stubborn. He's getting a new car since he sold his other one. He knew the other one was going to need a lot of work and money in a year or so, so he decided to get out. He showed me pictures of the car he likes and it has 80000 miles and no warranty on it for 25000 when the new version is like 5000 more. It's makes no sense since the new car will have a warranty. He's so smart with cars and finances I don't get how he doesn't see how it makes sense financially to spend a little extra now. Plus this car would be about 5 years newer. Is their a point of view I'm missing. He doesn't want an old car or anything he needs to put money into constantly.
