First OB appointment?

Hey ladies, I called my doctor after our BFP on Sunday, and they didn't schedule me for our first appointment until I'm 8 weeks. Is this normal? I have PCOS, so I'm freaking out about miscarrying, but they just had me talk to a nurse on staff. I feel like I should be having blood work done or something with my weird hormones, but I'm not sure...am I driving myself crazy?!

I have PCOS too and didn't see my Dr until 8 weeks.  Completely normal.  Now, I did get to go in just for bloodwork (HCG and preogesterone) the day I called in to confirm the pregnancy, but they said that was optional.

Do you take metformin for your PCOS?  If so, that will bring down your chance of miscarriage to that of a "normal" woman :)

I got blood work 5 days after finding out to check hcg levels and then I was scheduled for my first appointment at 8 weeks 😊

Totally normal most doctors won't see you until that time it's easier for them to see the baby and get correct measurements congratulations ✨

Most doctors don't have you come in until around 8-10 weeks unless there is a high risk to baby. Bleeding etc.... also a lot I've found will not confirm with a test or blood they take your word on the home test. At your appointment they will send you for blood work most likely to check your levels. You should be fine. Hang in there and enjoy your pregnancy.

My doctor always had me come in right away to confirm with their test and then bloodwork. On a side note pcos does not cause mc or weird hormone levels I have had it since age 14 and have 3 daughters just had my 3rd at age 37. Some docs just won't see you until 8 weeks. I've been with my obgyn since age 18 she gave me my first pap I never had a gp do my yearly well woman visits so we have an excellent relationship and she let's me play a huge part in my health care.

I am high risk due to type 1 diabetes, age, and previous miscarriage. Most Dr's don't see you until 8 to 12 weeks along. Some wait until closer to 10 weeks. I saw my Dr at 10 weeks this time.
