What's the chances of a false bfp?

I took a test yesterday with fmu at 11dpo and got a faint positive but it was definitely there. Today I tested with fmu with a different branded test and it was a bfn! Yesterday's faint positive 1was 100% not an evap as it came up instantly! Is there a chane that this was a false bfp? I'm due AF on Monday , I'm inly 12dpo today - any advice? I'm so confused and it's making me quite upset

A test can be false positive for several reasons (none of which I think apply here). Certain medications can result in a false positive. There is even a type of cancer that can elevate your HcG levels, resulting in a false positive. Having blood or too much protein in your urine can also confuse the test. The test itself can be faulty.

​In this instance - the likely answer is that the second test was not sensitive enough to pick up on the pregnancy. Or that the pregnancy stopped growing - and you will get your period as expected. (Maybe 1 or 2 days late).

Maybe you tested with 2 different sensitivitys. - there are 3 kinds of HPT: 10 IUI, 25 IUI, 50 IUI - if you take the 10 first than 50 second there could be the second one doesn't show anything because your HTC level are just to low... OR: your fertilized egg didn't grow further. There are NO false positive!!! Just false negative! So test in 2-4 days again. Good luck!!!

I know it's hard but I would wait until after AF is due and test again. Hcg doubles every day or so, so by the time AF is due, you should be testing positive on any test regardless of sensitivity. Always make sure to use FMU, and remember that the ONLY thing that causes a positive pregnancy test is A RISE in HCG. False positives are EXTREMELY RARE and often are NOT due to test fault. False negatives are far more common due to test sensitivity differences, etc. hold out and test again! Loads of sticky baby dust! :)

After my experience this month I will never test until after my period is due. I had a chemical pregnancy, started getting BFP's that got darker until 16dpo when they got lighter, but by 20dpo I had a negative blood result.

I got a false positive once, but it was on a super cheap blue dye test. Ever since then, I only use pink dye and I try not to skimp on the price as much.

I had a false positive once. My doc said my cysts that I had could throw out hormones and the test picked it up.
