Could it be that he just needs some space? Idk how long you've been together or if it's happened before. I can be the same way sometimes, at first me bf was worried asking if he did something to upset me, when in reality I just don't feel like socializing with anyone occasionally. Now he just asks if I need me-time and it's cool.
