Burping tips anyone?

Burping? What works best? My hubby can burp our son easy but I seem to not have the magic touch.

Sometimes it helps to lay them down and pick them up again.

What works best for me is to kinda make my son "sit". I try to burp him the traditional over the shoulder way but it usually doesn't work. Then I tuck his legs to his tummy like fetal position and kinda hold him upright and it usually comes right out.

I have this problem too, makes me feel like I'm not good enough and can't do it right and I hate feeling like I can't do something for my precious little one and I don't want to have to wake my partner up every 2 hours just to have to wind him for me.

Our hospital encouraged us to sit baby up on our knee or flat surface and gently rock her forward, back, side to side; and repeat. Apparently it's the new way. Can't say it worked any more or less to burp our little one, but she doesn't suffer from and wind related problems so i generally don't worry if I can't get a burp out of her.

With my daughter she'd only burp belly to belly but my son only burps if I hold him in the sitting position. If they don't burp sometimes standing up while holding them would get the burp up.

I sit my daughter on my knee and put my hand under her arms to hold her up straight and firmly pat and rub her back. I'll get a burp out of her within a few seconds and that is the only way that works for me.
