When was your first poop after you gave birth.

I just gave birth vaginally yesterday to a 9 and a half pound baby and I'm super sore and super stitched up. I'm scared that the only way I'll be able to leave the hospital is if I have a bowel movement... And honestly, I am completely incapable of doing that at the moment... Did your doctor make you poop before leaving the hospital? When was your first bowel movement after giving birth?

I had my first bowel movement about a day and a half after delivery. Make sure they give you a stool softener (twice a day); that will help. I am 4 weeks post partum and I'm still taking the stool softener daily because I had a third degree perinium/vaginal tear and it is very painful without it. The hospital I delivered at did not require it for discharge.

Try not to strain when you do end up going. Deep breaths and drink lots of water.

I don't think I pooped until I was home. I had emptied myself repeatedly during the early stages of labor, there was no poop left to poop. It hurt a little.

Same day our daughter was born,  at the hospital. Was not even in pain... everyone always says the first shit after birth is the worst. I was scared as hell.  But absolutely no pain.. and I had a second degree tare

I had mine 4 days after I had my son. It. Was. Horrible. I had a 4th degree tear though. I took my time and tried to let gravity so most of the work with small pushes. It still hurt like hell with stool softeners and pain killers on top of that.

Im in labour ward for 5 days.. the moment i gave birth few hours later i poop.. and while pooping im like "ouch ouch ouch" cause of the stitches.. feel like the vagina going to tear up again.. 😒.. and now im 6weeks with #2.. the thoughts of it creeping me out again.. keep saying to my husband im scare and he is like "you scare im more scare" 😑..

I gave birth. Had to have a c section. Didn't poop till like a week -2 weeks after plus I didn't poop before. It was torture. They had to make me drink prune juice

Both births they asked me to poop before I left and gave me stool softeners. If I didn't go they let me go home but asked me to call if I didnt in the next two days. I don't exactly remember when but it was at the hospital.

My first I didn't poop for almost a week and a half and actually had to take stool softener/laxative since I was so constipated and so scared of pooping since I was so stitched up. Second time I pooped the next day in the hospital. It was very soft and wasn't bad I also only got one stitch the second time.
