Proud to not be American anymore
From what I know from my own experience living in the US, to the posts you ladies write, to the U.S.' political/world reputation.
This is how the U.S. is perceived internationally:
*poor public education
(Poorly supported, poor pay, poor educational results)
*crap health care system (nothing for low income/no income families, harsh guidelines of what is actually covered)
*country with huge health problems (obesity, childhood obesity)
*no gun control
*war hungry--involving themselves in issues that have nothing to do with them... And not to help but to control
The U.S. as a whole country is also not consistent on:
*supporting women's rights to abortion, birth control
*accepting alternative lifestyles (such as gay, transgendered)
*accepting various religions/beliefs
*marijuana
*the death penalty
*vaccinations (we're creating epidemics)
*economic security/jobs
*racial and ethnic acceptance
And there are lots lots more...
Wouldn't you rather live in a country that didn't have ALL these huge problems collectively and consistently for years?
Cue the "freedom of speech" rants and rights arguments.. But I implore you to look deeper, because a lot of these are issues because people ARE fighting for rights.
Is the US a collectively better place to live than a third world country?--sure. But what about other first world countries? The UK, France, Canada, Australia, etc.
You really don't hear about half these issues in their countries...
I'm glad I left 'Merica
